Terms of Service

These terms describe the actual, current rules for using Compliance Reporter. They aren't a substitute for advice from a qualified solicitor — if you rely on this page for formal legal compliance, have it reviewed first.

1. The service

Compliance Reporter checks a UK company's status against the Companies House public register and can generate a verifiable PDF certificate of that status. A paid membership subscription adds data-management features (task/note/contact tracking, audit reports, CSV export) across multiple companies.

2. Accounts

You're responsible for keeping your password confidential and for activity that happens under your account. Provide an email address you actually control — it's how we confirm payments and reach you about your account.

3. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

Use automated tools to scrape, bulk-query, or otherwise place load on the service beyond normal individual use.
Attempt to circumvent rate limits or abuse-prevention measures we put in place to protect access for every user.
Resell, redistribute, or provide third-party access to data obtained through the service without our written permission.
Use the service for any unlawful purpose.

We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms, particularly where they risk the shared Companies House API access that every user depends on.

4. Payments

One-time certificate purchases and recurring membership subscriptions are billed through Stripe. Prices may change; we'll give notice before a price change affects an active subscription. See our Refund Policy for cancellation and refund terms.

5. Subscriptions

Membership subscriptions renew automatically each billing period until cancelled. You can cancel at any time; access continues until the end of the period you've already paid for. If a renewal payment fails, we'll attempt to notify you and may suspend membership features until it's resolved.

6. Data accuracy

Compliance Reporter reports what the Companies House public register showed at the time of your check. We don't control, and can't guarantee, the accuracy, completeness, or timeliness of Companies House's own data. A certificate reflects a snapshot in time, not a live or ongoing guarantee of a company's status.

7. Not professional advice

Nothing on this service constitutes legal, financial, or professional compliance advice. It's an informational tool. Make your own judgment, or consult a qualified professional, before relying on it for a decision with real consequences.

8. Intellectual property

Certificates and reports you generate are yours to use for your own purposes, including sharing them with third parties for verification. The underlying software, design, and branding remain the property of Compliance Reporter.

9. Limitation of liability

The service is provided "as is." To the extent permitted by law, Compliance Reporter isn't liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential losses arising from your use of the service, including decisions made based on a certificate or status check.

10. Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales.

11. Changes to these terms

If these terms change materially, we'll update the date at the top of this page.
